Lesson 1: Students will learn the acronym for summarizing nonfiction (FACT) and find evidence in pre-written summaries.

Lesson 2: Students will identify which parts of a nonfiction text are important to include in a summary.

Lesson 3: Students will analyze summaries and determine if they are complete, according to all that they’ve learned about summarizing nonfiction texts.

Lesson 4: In this lesson, students will fill in a graphic organizer for summarizing while analyzing a nonfiction text.

Lesson 5: In the final lesson, students will apply all that they’ve learned to write nonfiction text summaries of their own.

All activities are more hands-on than normal ‘worksheets’. Direction pages and original nonfiction texts are also included! A final assessment, graphic organizer, bookmark, anchor chart, craftivity, & center are all also included!
