Description
Do your students struggle with understanding what it means to have ‘voice’ in their writing? Then try this!
Using fun character hats – this activity submerges writers into the world of ‘voice’ in writing. This packet helps students use and practice writing with voice while using different hats of characters they are writing about. The packet comes with over 15 different hats (characters) – each with their own brainstorm page where students will be asked to think of different words or phrases that represent that character’s voice. The packet also comes with 5 different practice pages: Given a scenario, students cut and paste the hats they wish to use and practice writing the same scenario from multiple voices to practice hearing the differences. Finally, each ‘hat’ comes with a blank writing page of its own.
If you’re unable to get the hats – no worries! I’ve included color copies of the hats as well just in case!
I know your students will fall in love with this activity as well as completely understand voice in writing – win/win! Let me know if you have any questions!
