Description

Are you tapped out of ideas on how to teach Genres to your students? Make it fun, easy, and interactive with this WEEK long set of activities with both print and digital! This resource includes 5 days worth of lesson plans and activities, graphic organizer, craftivity, centers & more! Take a look at the preview for more details!

Lesson 1: Students are becoming exposed to the concept of genres by identifying characteristics in different genres. Teachers read summaries while students cut, glue, and match characteristics to their genre mats. Genre tracker & posters are also included!

Lesson 2: Students analyze short stories and determine the genre of the story. They then use the key to underline evidence and color code the story.

Lesson 3: Students evaluate short stories that have already been labeled with genres and evidence underlined. Students will sort the stories based on whether the labels are correct and incorrect.

Lesson 4: Students will roam around the room on a ‘genre journey’ and search for envelopes that are filled with clues and stories to read. Using their genre journey booklet, they will fill in evidence and clues to justify their genre ID.

Lesson 5: Students get to apply their knowledge of genres by reading a short text and identifying the genre on the flip book.

All activity are more hands on than normal ‘worksheets’. Direction pages and real photographs are also included! A graphic organizer, bookmark, anchor chart, craftivity, & center are all also included!
