Description
Teachers know it’s important to spiral review, especially for reading skills. But it’s always hard to find the time! Squeeze in some engaging and focused spiral practice with this year-long Reading Comprehension Morning Work resource!
Whether you use this resource for morning work, homework, or even small group warm-ups – it provides a specific and rigorous review of the most important reading skills and strategies.
What both students and teachers love about this resource, is its design. For the entire week, your students just need ONE page front and back.
On the front, you’ll find a fiction or nonfiction text along with metacognitive prompts along the way to encourage your students to be active thinkers when reading.
Then on the back, each day of the week is given a specific ‘topic’ to focus on:
Monday – Reading Strategies
Tuesday – Context Clues (vocabulary development)
Wednesday – Reading Skills
Thursday – Comprehension Questions using text evidence
Friday – Response to Text
With this repetition, students will quickly get into the groove of knowing what to expect when using this resource.
Don’t like the idea of using this as morning work? No problem! There are loads of other ways this resource can be used!
- Reading warm-ups
- Daily homework
- Early finishers
- Small group warm-ups
- Center practice
36 weeks are included along with all 36 weeks in digital form as well. The digital components are compatible with Google Slides or Google Classroom. They can also be downloaded from Google and used as PowerPoint.
