Lesson 1: Students are becoming exposed the pieces of inferences, meaning which part of the inference is the text evidence, which part of the schema, and which part is the actual inference itself. Students will sort through each of these and determine which piece is which.

Lesson 2: Students analyze inferences to determine whether the statement is a true inference or not. Students will read a text and multiple statements about that text and sort them using the provided headers. This helps them understand the difference between analytical and inferential statements.

Lesson 3: Students evaluate inferences made based on different and interesting photographs. All of the statements made are inferences but some are true and some are false. This allows students to understand the importance of how text evidence supports the inference being made.

Lesson 4: Students will read about different characters and create a fun flipable, interactive page where they practice inferring the character traits of the different characters in the story.

Lesson 5: Students get to apply their knowledge of theme by reading a short text and creating a making inferences folding page that allows them to write about the text evidence, schema, and the inferences made, all in one final activity.

All activity are more hands on than normal ‘worksheets’. Direction pages and real photographs are also included! A graphic organizer, bookmark, anchor chart, craftivity, & center are all also included!

Digital components can be used in Google Classroom, Google Slides, and PowerPoint.
