Lesson 1: Students will define tone and mood. Then, they will begin to identify different tones and moods based on pictures and video clips.
Lesson 2: Students will identify the tone and mood of sentences.
Lesson 3: Students will identify the tone and mood of short passages by matching them with symbols.
Lesson 4: Students will identify the common tone and mood of 3 short stories and rank them based on how well they exhibit the tone and mood.
Lesson 5: In the final lesson, students will identify the tone and mood of short stories and find text evidence to support their choices.
All activities are more hands-on than normal ‘worksheets’. Direction pages and original nonfiction texts are also included! A final assessment, graphic organizer, bookmark, anchor chart, craft-ivity, & center are all also included!
